What’s Happening in the Nanaimo Housing Market?

Published By: on July 31st, 2011 in Category Nanaimo Real Estate News

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE NANAIMO HOUSING MARKET?

I’d love to tell you what the future holds for the Nanaimo housing market, but the truth is this: Nobody knows. Experts are saying that the market is “unusually unpredictable”. Who knows what the future holds? With the U.S. still in deep do-do and the rest of the world in flux, Canadians are collectively holding their breath, waiting to see what happens.

Meanwhile, here in Nanaimo, there is a large inventory of properties for sale and interest rates are still low, so it is a good time to buy. Having said that, if you have a property to sell first it is a tough market. To sell your home in today’s market you need to do 2 things well: sharp pricing and proper staging. If your home is priced to sell and stands out from the competition, it will sell.

If you are worried about the current market value of your home being lower than you would like, it can be helpful to remember that the value of  the houses in your area rise and fall together.  The price of that house you want to buy will have risen or fallen by a similar percentage as the house you want to sell. Your net gain or loss will not be drastically different.

You really need to begin by getting an assessment of your home’s current market value. Give me a call at 250-802-9810 and I’ll help figure out what price range you should be shopping in.
